i live inside my head at times
lost in thought
listening to voices
seeing visions
completely enthralled by my muse

i often wonder what it must be like
to be on the other side
watching me when i lose myself
in thought
ideas, problems
solutions

i know you are there and take comfort
in your presence
it is warm and solid
and i rely on it
to steady me
when i am lost
in voices
music, words

i hear you talking to our son
his sweet voice raised in question
your mellow baritone responds
Mommy is just bemused
i nod and smile and
lose myself in
thought, ideas
solutions
