I forgot by Maria FrancescaI forgot the pain of losing
I forgot I can't have more -
I'd be better off refusing
others' entrance to my door
I forgot I lack ambition
I forgot my chance was blown -
all my friends gone, to attrition,
I forgot I was alone
I forgot I lack the talent
I forgot I lack the skill -
not nearly close enough to valiant
yet too mouthy, and too shrill,
too old,
too plain,
too bold,
slow brained -
and yet so likely to be sly.
I forgot I have no wings,
and that's the reason I can fly.

Posted by George Hoerner on 07/01/08 at 03:11 PM Oh Maria, so wonderfully well written! This is just great. How we can only do those things we can when we forget that we've been told we can't. Definitely poem of the day material. |
