"My Name is a Placeholder"

by Max Phineas

Not yet
But one day,
I'll shed this skin;

My insides exposed.

And a new shell will form around it;
An outfit instead of a disguise.

Can you see through me now?
Do you know who I am?
Or is all you see
What you've been taught to see?
A skin-deep pseudo-beauty?

Well I do have a magic
But your eyes won't serve to prove.

When I can be me,
I'll break that Magician's Oath

and reveal all my secrets.
