chutzpa by Jared Fladelanddance with me
and we will form a path to a garden
where purple lightning bugs form rose petals
glowing around our face like floating candles
and the hanging willows open for us to find a mellow spot
leaning against its strong trunk
and we can see the stars sparkle through branches,
see the man in the moon laughing at us like an old knowing grandfather
and the clouds quickly pass so we can watch satellites fly across the sky.
do not look at me
with that incredulous face
because if you come with me
we will walk atop lakes,
frozen just for us so we can walk to an island
where no one else resides
just so we can hum into each other's ears
and think beautiful thoughts.
please say something,
do not leave me wondering if i made a mistake
coming here after all.
