I try not to be a writer of napkins

And yet it seems to always work out that way.

Perhaps it's the chance, when I but glance

At the blankest of pages or even

The longing call of my bluest pen,

To write once more, once again.

I try so very hard not to be

A writer of napkins, and yet they call me.
