you remain

by Emily Sullivan

you still linger in my mind
still linger in my life
i cannot erase your name from the
day where you would have
seen me become a wife

the dead flowers on my stairs
that i cannot throw away
are still wet with water
i cannot erase this life
where i was your granddaugher
