buds & blossoms by Christina Gleasonwhen i found my body barren
of a consequential love,
he planted one long stalk,
thin and red on my back.
near a year passed
and with his tending,
the stalk burgeoned.
tiny branches like rills
spread and fill in gaps
in our bodies' histories,
marking the slow time
of passion.
now this full tree
flowers and embraces me
in sleep, where lips
meet and each kiss
buds and blossoms. 06/15/2008 Author's Note: begin again. trying to write daily.
