The Breakup by Olivia Weinkeinpale skin flakes
not enough sun or lotion or
time & i feel amazingly ugly
and contagious and exposed
in superficial light
writing you letters you may never read
& is it raining outside if not
it should be i can not afford to be
as empty as this
and I wrote life is all about choices &
i wrote & i wrote but i didn't say it was
about me, i didn't say it was about
you
these planets have me reeling
perhaps i can get off on good behavior
this time &
this time you're the one waiting, waiting,
waiting & i'll never know, i'll never know
what it was all for, what it meant and why
why
why
it still insists on hurting so bad

Posted by Trisha De Gracia on 06/05/08 at 07:22 AM Well done. I feel this piece. It has the kind of begging-the-question, disjointed feeling you would expect from a woman going through this thing. It expresses beautifully. Thanks |
