ali, a portrait of life by Charlie Morgansouthwest winds make me feel old, pastured.
while the man inside me looking out feels twenty.
a constant battle of desires vs skills.
the mirror works to blur me
into thinking i'm Don Quixote
slaying the endless windmills;
send away dragons of evil forever.
strap on my Walter Mitty attire,
begin slashing youth, ignorance.
as i'm Atila the Hun: Emperor:
all regions seeable with the eye.
craned necks of slanting wonder
lift and loll, a dashboard doll
in splendor of the hula dance
as the bumps cause a shimmer.
a parade of age; a paring down
of society; death awaits, no rush.
plenty of time to hem age's skirt.
everyday the goal is closer. ask.

Posted by Alison McKenzie on 06/03/08 at 02:42 PM I love seeing it through your eyes, such a HUGE gift to get it from another angle. And your angles are always particularly specific, but relatable at the same time. I love all three stand-alone lines, but especially, "send away dragons of evil forever" and then, "as the bumps cause a shimmer." You're obviously way too good to me... |
