Half of your face is a smile

like no other

like an alien treasure

from out of this world

in the darkest of dark

it's the light

that I'm drawn to

the same light

that drew you

excited by my impending death

and the disaster that is

your laughing bug zapper

in my childhood backyard

I'm sure I knew you then

way back when

better than I know you now

you've appeared in my bed

for five days straight

in dreams

that feel like memories

that feel like the future

that is last night

you told me everything is blue

and I believe it

against all evidence

previously presented

Your face

is trust

is love

is a car accident

that

my eyes can't ignore

that smile
