no need for false dreams

by Kimberly Bowen

I don’t need false dreams
Strumming lies about the future
Telling me you’ll be there
But damn what I would give
To get one more touch
Electrifying between the two of us
Just to convince myself
The kisses weren’t a dream
And the love wasn’t a smoke screen

I won’t say miss you
That’s too cliché and untrue
The only part of you I know
Is the snapped frame sewed
Right into my scarred side
Years later I’ve concluded
Its not what it seems
Loved filled photo frames never can be

But damn I still want one more night
Laying beneath the heat stroked sky
One more taste of bliss
To get me through the lies
One uncovers in real life
I don’t need a false dream
Just one more time
Letting your heat mix with mine
And I swear I’ll finally be fine
