So We Cry
by Kourosh Taheri-GolvarziWe stake proprietary claim on sovereign dirt
Because our egos try to own the universe;
This even when, considering that everything
We build comes powdering into the fallow soil,
Our situation, strained and tender, should alert
Us not to hitch a ride in civ'lization's hearse
Because, for so long, we've turned deaf ears to the ring
Of Mother Earth's alarm clock as its waters boil.
We can't hold out much longer living life like this,
Lest we deny each other unity and bliss. 05/26/2008 Author's Note: This'll buy me another 6 months to come up with more of my next poem.
