we're killed by the holes by Maria Francescait's not what I say
it's the things that I don't.
it's not what you do
it's the things that you won't.
these betrayals,
they shoot through us,
rend soul from soul;
bullets can't hurt us -
we're killed by the holes. 02/18/2006 Posted on 05/25/2008 Copyright © 2025 Maria Francesca

Posted by Jon-Jacob F Deal on 07/18/09 at 07:05 AM Short, punchy, rhythmic, and well-done. An even more extreme extension of a concept I always found funny: "Guns don't kill people, bullets kill people." A drum teacher once told me that his teacher had told him, "It's not just about the notes you play; it's about the ones you leave out." And what's left out matters, for good or for ill. Killed by the holes, indeed. Very nice. |
