your less was more than I asked for

by Samantha Shaw

did I imagine it all...
our eyes exchanging affection
I sware you saw the depths
of me in each gaze

in those moments no other
soul existed, not even her
and to my amazement
we continued on this way

each time
allowing a glimse at
your essence and drawing
me in for a closer look

a master at this game
of give and take, you
always left so much
to be desired

bitter emptiness
thoroughly soaked with wisdom
bleeding the need for
a man with no bagage to claim

those moments are imagined, but the consequences are real.

I like that image in that last line. It has kind of a dammed soul feel to it. Very nicely done indeed.

Hey, this is nicely done! The last line was a good wrap up to a neat little package. Well done indeed :)
