mama don't worry

by Charlie Morgan

i'm gonna finish the show
i started
or you and daddy did
or God did,
14 billion years ago.

i'll be the trainer,
the one lowest who
scoops up after
the parade.

i'll hear the oom pah
of the bass calliope,
breathe the ahhhs of pre-schoolers
and sniff the worries of the parents;
they ride a common chariot.

mama will be in the people-line
cheering me as much as the lions,
their tamers of spirits of the wild
and too their heritage, their reason.

i challenge a flittering Monarch
to look prettier than her disposition,
extended glee with each ho hum;
mama celebrated a world in spin.
