him

by Ava Blu

he’s in love with me
without touching,
without knowing this beauty he thinks I have
I’m actually borrowing from the world around me

and he keeps calling,
keeps trying

while I curl into this ball of apathy

I can’t share with the world around me
I’ve used it all up
there is nothing inside the trees,
no honesty swaying from the leaves

I can reach the branches
I can hear him in the wind

but my body is reluctant
to bend

so I swing away
moving further into this pit of loneliness

knowing he’s only a few feet away.

i imagine, somewhere inside your heart. it must feel good to have someone trying. maybe he's left it up to you. do you let him try until he has to stop and regain his self-esteem? maybe he's just another figment of your imagination that you might take for granted until he's gone. maybe he's not in love with you. maybe he just loves you but you dont give him a chance.... i can only assume that any man with self-respect and confidence, would eventually leave you be before he paints a picture of himself that isnt accurate but fits convenient in your mind like a wallet picture to remind yourself that he loves you, and to boost your confidence when the ones you love have betrayed your trust. do you think it hurts him? when you treat him like commodity? do you think you should let him go and hang up on him, so he can try to find happiness? do you love him? or do you only love you?

I'd wager any guy who's in love with you would be a pretty smart cat. But that's just me. A pleasure, as usual.
