We've been talking

by Maria Kintner

We are bound by rules we did not make,
in Heaven and on Earth, where we are
fenced in, controlled...learning

You bring me clouds. The wind blows them in,
and the skies darken. Will you cry with me tonight?

I keep asking where you are. Are you there?
Are you in Paradise, with the Savior you weren't
sure you believed in? I pray that God heard you
last year. My desire to know is over-whelming.
I cannot sate it.

You cannot answer me..I know this. And I see you,
across from a vast sea, shouting my name.
You cannot get to me, and I cannot get to you.

I will follow the sound, if you let me.
I will listen for your voice when I'm ready.

And I will wait the longest wait, because you
are worth twice as long. I love you, my beloved husband.

Author's Note: My husband died on Saturday of a sudden brain aneurysm. I keep having conversations with him in my head. I miss him so much.

I cannot fathom what you might be feeling but I would imagine I would do the same, have conversations and whose to say that he does not hear you and in some way the next song, the next thing you read, or that little whisper in your ear is not what he would say. Bless you and my heart goes out to you in your loss. smh.

It is really good for you to express your longing and grief in this way. I can really relate to it in a very personal way. No one can understand the sense of loss who has not gone through it. Of that I am convinced.
