you are a bear.

by Eli Skipp

sleepy, tense, and frightened of humanity,
exhibiting height and size as your only
hope for intimidation, and caving away.
(You, despite timidity, are easily ticked
off and

spend
days
digesting
and
storing
your
anger

pawing pawing pawing pawing pawing pawing)
you let it rest in your belly and under
your fur and try unsuccessfully to sleep
it off -- waiting with gleeful anticipation
to eat me whole.

i'm in love with your sketching style. and the last lines of the poem are definitely gold. this reminds me alot of myself, because, as a dancer, I've been told I resemble a bear alot (strong powerful grounded), and emotionally i act much like how you describe this bear.

hmmm. i know i read this before, and commented before, but i just re-read it again because in movement class during my "acting training" we talked a bit about what animals we inherently move like and I was always compared to a bear. so every time iread you're title i think it's about me. and the funny thing is, the poem fits me pretty well.
