untitled [unfinished]

by Ryan Nardi

It makes me look at Jesus through new eyes--
this age of 25 bygones gone by...

And I don't hang a cross,
and I don't think that he's the son of god
any more than you or I.

Nonetheless,
there are no longer pentagrams inside my notebook,
and for thee lack of crosses
there are none inverted either therein.

As for my thoughts on the man,
the man who walked on sparsely shaded cypress groves,
as for what he's done,
whether he has or not,
I think most of what he is said to have said.

He is said to have done a great many things--
as is Achilles,
as is Aeneas,
As is Augustine.

I can see why this might be unfinished. For a couple of reasons. This is definitely a journey worthy of a very long poem...or several in a series. What's here though is pretty damn good.
