I'm Your Biggest Fan, Steven! by Alison McKenzieI'm your biggest fan.
Well, never mind the spatial references.
Let me start over.
I'm your largest...
No, wait, going down the same trail,
Just from a different angle.
Steven, I'm a fan of your work!!
(But not just the outward expression)
Your paintings and sketches and art
Blow me away.
I see a whole new view when I study
Your perspective,
And I am left in awe,
That you see so clearly
Through your injuries.
Your poetry astounds me,
The choice of your words
A decadent display of perfection
That, had I not words of my own to speak,
I would, perhaps, covet.
I am left in tears,
That such wisdom finds you
Beyond your transgressions.
And I can't wait until you fully understand
How blessed I feel that you and I
Found one another on that dark and dusty
Road from Hell,
How I was lucky enough to recover
Such a beautiful treasure
From the neglected pile in that unkempt backyard,
In that other life,
Where your voice was lost in the din of too many children
And not enough grownups to keep you safe
From your confusion.
And I can't wait until your realization blossoms,
How grateful I am that your love has rescued me, too,
Pulling me out of the useless bin
Polishing my tarnished armor
And proudly celebrating our achievements as mother and son
To an audience of friends and whoever else will listen.
I am your biggest fan,
And I'm so glad you arent embarrassed
By the enormity of it all.
