The Contest

by Nancy Ames

"I guess you won that conversation
and you should get a prize
for interfering dedication
and masterful disguise.

My friend and I use older knowledge,
a horse that will not race,
every imitation "new age"
consumes its time and place.

I see you think that ridicule
can answer any question,
but I and this sweet, silly "fool"
get honorable mention."

Heh. Your usual sharp-as-hell wit shines through here. Love it.
