grandson's airlift

by Charlie Morgan

daedalus brought forth icarus
making land-locked labyrinths passe,
for airborne gliding brought
them outside of a hellish maze.

yet, he glided, fell, but never flew;
his myths are many; can a myth be wrong?
any myth? all? could they all be right.
don't ask me, i am counting numbers.

matters of great consequence: my age,
your age, E.Q., your actuarial chart,
your benefits left when you retire.
then how many hours til i see Kai?

matters of great consequence, i iterate.

This is beautiful Chaz! I can so relate. Those grandsons... there just can't be enough great poetry written about them can there? This is just wonderful. I hope you are making him a little chapbook out of these... I keep saying I'm going to do that with the ones I've written for Logan but I think my procrastinator button has been pressed too long and now its stuck. Going in my favorites.

I'm so thankful of your iterations. Hehe. And one day, your grandson will be too. Lovely.
