Minerva

by Leonard M Hawkes

Our lives overlapped--
My youth, your age,
And though no one ever said;
I know you knew Them--

Those Hawkes who too lived
Along the Oregon Shortline,
Misplaced where the Portneuf
Tributaries the great Snake.

So appropriate, so beautiful--
Your vision becomes our own,
And we know the passion
We have for Our People.
