No Warning

by Deborah Breuer

There was no warning,
No Beware,
Of what was in store
For what the gods had planned for you and me.
Now, some time has passed and I’m lying next to you,
Ready to take the next step,
I’m not sure what direction we’ll take,
Nor where it will lead us,
But I know that,
Whatever north or south,
East or west,
It will be grand.
And in that next venture,
There is a positive enforcement,
That you and I will last,
An enduring and trying moment,
But no matter the struggle of such a battle,
We will prevail.
And in all sincerity that one wish can hold,
I desire only this,
That the foundation of our well-being
Be solidified in our ever failing ability to be individuals,
Leaving only our steadfast lifestyle of being one.
