Lord Have Mercy

by Mark Maxey

In the news were stories of war and killing of humans

Kyrie eleison

another one is found dead in the streets

Kyrie eleison

Our city is crying for a basketball team...while many go homeless

Kyrie eleison

The politicians take sides and demand money...but the voice of the people are silent

Kyrie eleison

Our reality shows pits man against man/woman all for the purpose of money

Kyrie eleison

We turn in our neighbors and fight with words and lies

Kyrie eleison

We fight for peace...we go to war for peace...strange

Kyrie eleison

We hate others that are different but yet they came into the world just as we did

Kyrie eleison

We think Our God is better than their God...it's all just an adjective, right?

Kyrie eleison

Put more behind bars, build more prisons, yet Jesus said to visit those in prison...

Kyrie eleison

Others steal or rob our IRA's or 401K stash...leaving us broke...and they are millionaires

Kyrie eleison

Jesus said the greatest of all things was love thy neighbor...have we grown deaf?

Kyrie eleison

Mercy is explained as commpassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one's power; compassion, pity, or benevolence

but do we show it, do we live it, do we breathe it, do we exhibit this quality

Kyrie eleison
Kyrie eleison
Kyrie eleison

Interesting. And a quite engaging.

The quality of mercy is not strained.
This poem in all its truth and addressment is powerful, authentic, and, most hopefully, heart awakening. Divinely written. Amen. -Jill
