a pause in the dark

by Olivia Weinkein

a pause in the dark & that look
on your face seems quite appropriate
even though, even so

and i am not built for leaving
i said i adore you but words get lost
in the shadows on your face your
eyes & the weather is always relevant

i needed to feel something

you made a mistake coming here this
door will not close & i will not disappear
even though, even so

and you are too good at running away
i wanted promises that i would see you
again but you dodge words, tiny wasps
they get in the way, words, words

i needed you to say something

a pause in the dark & that look
on your face seemed quite appropriate
even though, even so

You've caught the feel of confusion and ambiguity in the relationship of which you write quite engagingly! Underscored by the repitition of "even though, even so".
