little girl Jesus (re-named) by Charlie Morgan
ruth jeanette wade, a name forgotten,
never known to latter day people.
9 yrs. old, acting like Jesus,
giving her life to save others.
a school bus, and a motorist
her ticket to Heaven.
that little girl is important,
1937 she met Jesus, saving
kids, yours and mine.
the law followed her to the grave;
all cars stop when a school bus does;
kid's tomorrows and futures salvaged.
holding my grandson's hand,
i salute Ruthie, look up
as she smiles down.

| Posted by Nicole D Gregory on 04/18/08 at 01:39 AM I read this the other day... and thought how exquisite to have given such honor to this little one. Then, I was on the way home and behind a school bus dropping off children at several stops between where I was and where I wanted to be; but you know... I thought about the parents of the little girl and who they missed out on knowing because of someone's carelessness and how your words remind us for the need to treat those around us with kindness. I enjoyed this peace and said a prayer for all of us. Thank you for your words! Hugs, ~N |
