Hooray For the Stoic Mind

by T.J. Carver

Stoicism is for cowards,
those who can't take a stand;
or maybe for those of feeble minds
too slow to make demands.

Then again, it may be for the meek--
for those who hold their tongue.
Better yet, it is for the foolish:
woe, the sheepish young.

For all of those jaded
faces in the crowd
whose loves have all but faded,
whose backs have all but bowed
under this stoic weight
of excremental bliss,
I say this:

Though the story isn't over,
you should probably know the end.
These lives we speak
for lies we live
aren't worth your spit, my friend.
And for all my stoic merits,
I think it's time I take up Zen.

Nice last line. Great read right up to that nice last line.

Great suspense and lead up to last note. Give us more imagery like this.
