all would be different

crow caws from suburbia announce encroachment.
flying red ryder bicycles stop, kickstands down.

the candidate's train stops, stool/podium set.
all the birds, nibs pecking at the ground,
looking for a workable morsel, gobble up rocks.

a chilly northeasern wind snickers
at the discomfort caused on skin-
the house we all live in:
a vestibule of values,
a land of self importance,
a belly of milk and honey,
as we eat with the Devil,
and using a short ladled spoon,
nod, agreeing with status quo
that all would be different
if...

love the ending profound reminder in that little two lettered word that holds a different stanza of understanding of us all... and you don't have to be a poet to fill in the di  fferent thoughts held therein... Great write Chaz.
