as stars go by by Charlie Morganthe tail-lights of the morning's coat
blink a warning of the day; tread lightly!
they seem to be saying. i'm of bent mind.
my worn, dusty thoughts of junior high,
college, yesterday trade confusions.
tomorrow is on the top shelf,
never to be ordered or drank;
standing in it's gray duster
as though a General Lee bust,
yesteryears brimmed, fading.
now the devil's greasy, long-handled
ladle comes close to my parched lips;
thirst is a thought of lust, long dead,
laden with desirous ravage of joy, only
to be replaced by life's grinning circle
of completion. 03/27/2008 Posted on 03/27/2008 Copyright © 2024 Charlie Morgan

Posted by JD Clay on 03/30/08 at 10:39 PM I've seen many stars go by and it's nice to know I'm not alone. You have a great perspective on the continuing process of life after life. Good stuff, Charlie! |
