Everything is Poetic to Me by Joe CramerEverything looks poetic to me,
Through this eye of the poet,
That "fine frenzy rolling"
As the Bard so aptly stated.
A myriad of words on leaves of trees
Though not on "Leaves of Grass"
As Whitman so often surmised.
In the sparkle of water in the noonday sun
Like a Neruda ode to the same.
Sometimes, just the turn of a word strikes
Mirth into my conundrum, like Nash.
(I asked for some Ogden Nash stamps
years ago, the Postal Clerk queried "who?")
Regardless of how others view their world,
It is forever poetic to me.
(A pretty good place to be!)
And so it remains, I write poetry,
It is the way I enter the world.
03/24/2008 Author's Note: ... the is a large pond with a fountain outside of my office window that was my sudden inspiration..... (there's an alligator in the pond too... subject for a later poem I'm certain!)

That wonderful moment when suddenly life takes a turn into the unexpected right in the middle of the ordinary is what poets live for and to actually capture with anything from a keyboard to a butterfly net sets our hearts soaring (or floating in a pond with an alligator :-) Really enjoyed this! |
