lazy, hazy afternoon by Frank Lee'I have what doctor's and enthusiasts describe as a drinking problem,'
I proclaimed as I topped off my coffee with a splash of Jameson.
She gave me a look,
one of those
'what the fuck did he just say?'
type of looks.
I winked.
we watched 'natural born killers'
and i rambled on about
life
love
lust
she wandered off into space,
not paying attention to a word out of my mouth.
i talked of air travel
and noted how it is now cheaper to fly than to drive
unless you make a habit of drinking in the airport.
she didn't quite understand.
I talked of politics,
how I didn't agree with the two party system
but didnt want another legacy, a mason, occupying the office.
she didn't quite undeerstand.
I turned up the volume on the plasma television
and guzzled my coffee.
we took the motorcycle for a ride to Henry's Tacos
and lay in in the park
sharing stories of childhood and
trying to lose ourselves in the sun.
I popped a wheely and she
licked my neck.
I nearly wrecked.
We made it home in time for the basketball game
of the college that i flunked out of.
(but still wear the colors on my sleeve)
she didn't quite understand.
I drank beer as she made me pasta,
we laughed and dreamed of
a normal, sophisticated relationship.
maybe in another life
maybe in a different time
she said goodbye and kissed me on the cheek,
said i should call her in a week.
I said I would, but,
'I have what doctors and enthusiasts describe as a drinking problem'

"I drank beer as she made me pasta,
we laughed and dreamed of
a normal, sophisticated relationship."
