Forgotten But Not Gone

by Genevieve Sturrock

out of sight
out of mind
has never been
more evident
than when
taking a
brief sojourn
from the internet

nothing makes you
feel quite so
humble as
realizing that
the contacts
you've made
are as tenuous
and fragile
as the pastel threads
of cotton candy

broken with the softest of sighs

03/19/2008

Author's Note: took a brief break and now i feel completely outside of my element here. sigh.

...uhhh, know whut ya mean, vern!...so tentative is much of life[on a geological scale]...we are but a wisp and a wish, yet i like you survive by my contacts...makes us more real, eh?...like the ole movie Shane...'come back shane, shane come back'...the little boy hollers, we adults wail for magic to come and stay...you're baaaaack...peace, charlie

If it weren't for the emails forwarded from those that forgot to remove me from their list I'd probably not need email except to send the occasional one to myself. That's just to see if I'm awake. This sounds to me like your coming back is well justified! Nice write.

It's so true, that the life "in here" is not as real as any "out there"...it lacks the bonds that are made from hugs and smiles and laughing together, watching each others' facial expressions and hearing the inflections in the tone of voice. Until it's face to face, it just doesn't stick I think.

This is so true and well done! It defibitely captures what our lives have become...for better or worse :-)
