The rocks themselves shall sing

by Amy Niggel

The rocks themselves shall sing
The savior comes to us today
To our cheers and our excitement
Tomorrow we shall throw those self same stones
Casting all away from ourselves
Onto Him
He shall be beaten
He shall be broken
He shall be put to death.

The rocks themselves shall sing
In our silence
In our complicity to murder
Tomorrow perhaps we shall have doubts
For sending the King of Kings
To the Cross
We shall deny him
We shall weep
We shall mourn

The rocks themselves shall sing
As the women weep
And the men reveal the tomb
Today we shall see the miracle
Of the Savior
He shall rise
He shall rule
He shall forgive

The rocks themselves shall sing
As we rejoice in redemption
Earned for us by the blood of the cross
Today we shall know the love
Of our ever living God
We shall sing
We shall pray
We shall believe.

Amy- this is lovely and could be a hymn. Very excellent exposition. Indeed "the rocks shall sing" Jane
