Vanderbilt street

by Manas Moksha

Sidewalk ramblings
sitting on the stoop
at Vanderbilt

Breathing in the air
finishing our whiskey
a smoke and a smile

Nostalgic for some action
an ancient wind forges its path
and follows a Cherokee

Tasting tomorrow
fueled with a timeless spirit
inhabiting the stitches in the fabric of this space
a palpable confirmation of wakefulness
fleeting and cast over with distant yelling
a gurgle of Slavic familiarity

Feeling the iron stairway
cold, uneven pavement
withdrawal from dissatisfaction

Our feet are cramped
from a long days walk
from Fort Hamilton to 7th ave
around the park and back again

Right outside the door
reeling for the righteous
clicking canvas heels
the last mambo in suede leather

Feelin' BK
Wearing the cold of November
the future enters our bronchioles
