I'm starting a revolution by Bradd HowardI'm starting a revolution
with sidewalk chalk, windshield flyers, and hand made t-shirts.
with a smile on my lips and glitter on my hips
and the words "no", "yes" and "maybe"
falling from my mouth.
I'm starting a revolution
based on stagnation
with some bound feet here and some procrastination there
and the words "not now", "another time", "maybe tomorrow"
resounding in my head.
I'm starting a revolution
based on provocation
with blood on my face and just a modicum of grace
and the words "stay just one more day"
caught in the back of my throat.
I'm starting a revolution
based on illumination
with body graffiti, jump ropes and lemonade.
and the words "right now", "yes please", "come over here", "take a look at me!"
reaching out to everyone I meet. 03/06/2008 Author's Note: wow... haven't written in a long time. I'm sure there are some structural problems here but it feels good just to get something out there again. as always comment how you see fit. :)

Posted by Frankie Sanchez on 03/06/08 at 06:10 PM work it! this created a vived image of you strutting down a sidewalk, as one does, and reciting this to the up-beat tempo of some dance/trance/pop song. i conur that there may be some structural choices you can play with but i like this. |
Posted by Julie Adams on 03/06/08 at 07:31 PM this is such a fun read, I want to start a revolution with you!...I loved the flow, not forced but rhythmically enticing...the imagery is wonderfully vibrant and playful...a pleasure to read...welcome back, amazing what we keep bottled up until it spills from us...happy writing, peace, jewels |
