bargain hunting bullets by Mary Frances Spencerdiscount bins buries
unseen debt
floats revolving cards
around roulettes wheel
we roll again
shopping for distraction
dicing body and soul
swallowing media anti-depressants
to numb dumb down
disquiet drugged masses
glued to flat screened reality
while unrequited rages
fester
the few silver lined
laughing all the way
pollute a brazen
undisputed trail
through what used to be forest
and hurl another chunk
of ice
into the world bank
safe
until the store opens
for tomorrow mornings

Posted by Keith McFarlane on 03/06/08 at 07:23 AM Impressive! "shopping for distraction" is what it's all about, I'm afraid...and there is just a chewable irony in "glued to flat screened reality/while unrequited rages/fester" -- love it! |
Posted by George Hoerner on 03/06/08 at 04:09 PM Really nice write!! And what is really sad is that so many just put one foot in front of the other and just shuffle on through picking up what ever will fit in the basket without a thought, numb to the world around them. |
