who am i? by Charlie Morgan I am not me.
Me is such a small word,
just two small letters that lean on each other.
I stands tall.
Alone.
E
R
E
C
T.
Balanced.
S y m m e t r i c .
Me means mine, only shortened
and always collecting for mes ego.
I makes, I builds,
then takes and fills
the coffers of mes
until spilled,
are all the works of I.

| Posted by Keith McFarlane on 02/28/08 at 10:23 PM chaz - glad you pointed this one out -- I really like the teasing out of the subtleties in the aforementioned pronouns and their existential baggage, that I as a subject acts, and me (of its very object nature) always takes. I wonder when it was decided that "I" should always be capitalized? And is mine really just in in me? Both fun and profound -- good stuff! |
