Heartbreaker

by Alison McKenzie

His face is hardness
Angled bricks and chisels
Not a crumb in sight
But Jesus to touch it
Just one stroke of one fingertip
The quivering thought of it

Concrete stare
But if only to bore my soul
Penetrate the exterior
Burst into me
I would absorb that fire
Burn by it

Layer upon wall
Upon cliffs and crags
I would scale just to breathe
His vicinity
The waves of sensual rhythms
Crushing me into oblivion
So happily I would shatter

My heart into fragments
He can tuck into his pockets
And cast into the rage
He does not understand
And lace his pieces together
Until time fades into peace
Until that heartbreaker
Knows only whole

Quite a touching piece, sweet Ali. May our eyes finally see all the puzzle pieces fit together forming the ways of a beauty our humanity only dimly comprehends as yet....
