Unseen

by Richard Vince

For a moment, she was
Silhouetted against the headlights
Of the oncoming cars until
She disappeared into the
Lights of a side street.

Somehow, the beauty of
The people I saw as
I walked on could not
Compare with hers unseen.

I did not see the hair
Under her hat, or
The hands in her gloves,
But I knew the beauty
Was there, twenty yards
Of street and a quarter inch
Of wool away.

You create some pretty vivid, fascinating characters, sir. Well done.
