How can a man who's warm

Understand a man who's cold?

When you have keys in your pocket

How can you feel for those who do not.

When most of us live one or twp paychecks away

From the breadline, from the soup kitchen,

What do we really know?

That which is real is not.

This is the path that we are given

To our own feelings of a warmer empathy.

Life ends up surreal, narcissistic.
