awakening muse

by Mary Frances Spencer

inspire me
tonight

words lure
and dance
with moon stars
drape darkness
these veils
unwrapping
ideas jingle bells

another poem spins
flashing elbow knees
feet fly
i play keyboard tabla
a siren song
scrolls down
this evening
beckons

bellywriting
fingers
listening

The muse has its way of keeping one awake at all hours. She never ceases to through one more word at you just as your eyes start to close. Very nicely done!

I nearly always do most of my writing late at night, or in the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes I wake, bolt upright, with something literally(haha, get it, "literally"???) screaming to get onto paper (or screen).
