Lost It All

by Jersey D Gibson

Time may heal all wound,
yet scars are always telling.
Cover them up to hear my words,
yet the reminder never leaves.

Broach this subject, once again,
can't leave the past behind.
Those who forget, doomed to repeat,
stop this endless cycle.

Jumbles of memories scattered,
scattered like leaves in autumn.
Pressing hands and wishful thinking,
won't take this pain away.

Doomed to failure, or maybe losing,
a silent time that I can't beat.
Foist it all upon my misgivings,
running away, it only follows.

Perchance and penance only words,
hides the feelings that I'm feeling.
Growing up in a cocoon,
break the seal that sets me free.

"Pressing hands and wishful thinking, won't take this pain away.". Ah, would that they could. Nice write.

This is another one of those pieces I'd very much like to see in a spoken word enviroment. Or maybe as lines in a strange comic book of some kind. I really enjoyed this.
