time is a river

downtown-time shifts into high gear,
leaves the Sun at the east's horizon.
pulling the blue haze off Kentucky,
sending harem-scarem to all corners.
universal watercolor paintings changing
by the moment; generations and cultures
lean against the tree of evolution.
we lie down in the shadow's warmth.
...and that's every day.
