envelope by Mary Frances Spencer
writing
in dark recesses
i sip another
idea
and pour it out
raw ink drowning
in scribbles
alone inspired
waiting
edit my
latest poem
on the shreds
of a torn
envelope
imperfect words
swim wine
blur cursive
no keyboard tonight
only precarious glasses
ringing the edge
unfinished
imagine
the
possibilities

Posted by George Hoerner on 02/18/08 at 05:37 AM It certainly is! I use old IBM cards that have never been through a "keypunch" machine. I think the envelope appreciates the write too. Very nice. And I still can't make up my mind as to preference, long hand or PC for writing. |

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 03/11/08 at 01:08 AM Love this poem, and the recognizable mood and situation it recalls. I am glad I did not miss it entirely. I love also "only precarious glasses
ringing the edge". Beautiful. And I can see the wine stains...
