Black hearts

by Christopher Shin

You say that all
the darkest moments
are in me for the moment,
and the day that
lovers sigh has gone
and been gone.

Never to love but never
to see the kisses
of youth gone by.
Desire of hope,
but ambition of failure
lingers near by.

How I have loved and died,
but seen the red in my soul
burn so slowly.
As the passing of time,
and the hunger of you
drives me insane.

I realize now that the toast
I have made now and will make
forever is my own curse.
I was born into the world by love,
but will leave it loveless and
broken by the hands of
all around me.

So ends Valentines and
all the black hearts with me.
