I Am the Earth by Jared OrlandoI imagined the cold dark palm with its bleeding eyes
Elusively escaping through decaying roots
Penetrating from the floor with an addicting, foul aroma
Blossoming into a dense array of thorn and needle
A burning delight of destruction stealing my sights
Turning my nose I am sickly enthralled
And I begin my dizzy, drunken dance
Circling the newborn hole in the ground
Aware of nothing but this poor new addiction
My descent giving birth to the blackest of black
With every inch an inhale of sulfur and midnight
Stupidly holding the corroded anchor in a sick weightless stupor
The ruby taste hits the bottom lip and I quiver and grin
I am bound and reeling and awaiting
Collapsing into an awaiting mahogany bin
Draining veinsÂ…I am invisible. 02/14/2008 Posted on 02/15/2008 Copyright © 2025 Jared Orlando
