If I would have known
it was the last time
I would ever see him
I would have said something
profound
and I would have hugged him
differently somehow
not just a regular hug
but a hug full of feelings
that I couldn't put into words
tight and lingering
with pats
I would have looked at him longer
before walking out the door
and I would have thanked him
for loving me
and making me laugh
