Friday Evening by Richard VinceHiding in plain view, I go
Unnoticed by everyone as they
Ride their emotional rollercoasters.
I see the sadness and the joy
Released from the cage of
The working week; I feel
The unwinding of taut souls
As a tangible change in the air.
I am alone in being alone,
Trying another cliché for size
As I cease to wait for inspiration
And head out to find it.
My blue shirt stands out against
The mahogany and cream of
The walls, yet I remain unseen.
Being alone really is the best
Camouflage.
As my eyes wander around
The room, I begin to wonder
Whether I am happy alone, or whether
I want to be noticed. Perhaps
I hide in plain view in
The hope of being seen.
Soon I shall return to the cold
Of a February night, and wonder
If I was truly invisible, or if,
For a moment, I was
More than just background.

Say yes, say yes and make sure that we do, one by one. Art-forms like this excellent poem are generated by individuals - who do have the power to shape the future, right? |
