because you are

by Laura Doom

today my eyes are closed
to ideas of some lofty plan
a grandiose design
intelligent or otherwise

today my mind is blind
to visions of divinity
a greater scheme of things
its strength drawn up from suffering

i'd like to know who runs this scheme
that stings the innocent, the meek
these heirs of nothing more than fate
whose justice takes their names in vain

i try to keep an open mind
wipe cynicism from my eyes
considering this tenet's credence
everything happens for a reason

today no reason on this earth
in heaven, hell or universe
is good enough to bring me peace
my anger goes beyond belief

and yet - because you are - my heart
is opened, entered and disarmed
your truth in spirit as my saviour
renews my faith in human nature

whose justice takes their names in vain-- Love that line, clever.

Man, I like that first stanza. No one shakes the words out of their usual mumbling quite like you, Ms . Doom.

Every single movement in this, it is as if we were in the same mind-frame when you wrote it. Every description.

A great write lady. I've searched through my forever looking for reason and found none except for the few souls along the way admitting their lost wonderings found nothing. I hope you have better luck.
